Private Case Study

Virgin Orbit

Making responsive launch understandable, cinematic, and human.

Overview

A full-scale aerospace communications case study across launch campaigns, executive storytelling, recruitment, public-facing brand, internal communications, and technical education.

Virgin Orbit's work involved aircraft operations, rocket integration, launch systems, payload customers, engineers, pilots, executives, and mission teams. My role was to help turn that complexity into visual stories people could understand, trust, and care about.

Context

The Challenge

Virgin Orbit needed to make a complex launch system understandable—and build trust with customers, investors, and the public.

Every piece of public-facing content had to pass strict brand, ITAR legal, and leadership review. The storytelling needed to be compelling without compromising technical accuracy or operational security.

Production was equally demanding: filming around rocket fueling, working alongside active mission teams, and capturing launches from a chase aircraft. Safety protocols, restricted access, vibration, and rapidly changing conditions shaped what could be captured—and how.

What We Built

Human Story

People Behind the Mission

The story was never only about hardware. A major part of the work was showing the people responsible for making responsive launch real.

Testimonial

In Their Words

Melissa Quinn smiling outside Spaceport Cornwall.

"Daniel came to see us in Cornwall, having never been before, with a brief to create a corporate video about launch from the U.K. After listening to my team and me talk about our passion for the place we live and its future, he set about getting under the skin of this distinctive place and the people who live here.

The result was amazing: an emotive film that captured the true spirit of the location and its potential, while still highlighting the operational capabilities of a world-unique technology. Daniel is creative, direct, and passionate about his craft, and he tells stories in a way that gives you goosebumps. His films make people feel, and make brands feel alive."

“Daniel possesses a rare talent for bringing to life the stories of teams, missions, and pioneering technologies.

He approached his work at Virgin Orbit by embedding himself in the team’s day to day, making himself a participant, not just casual observer, and in doing so he won the trust of the team and gained a deeper understanding of the company’s mission, purpose, and aspirations.

… Daniel’s skill and talents are clear advantages for companies striving to stand out from the pack—through his creative storytelling gaining the understanding and endorsement of customers, investors, and the general public.”
